Phaeton | Official Number

The Phaeton was a barque, launched from the Whitehaven shipyard
of Lumley Kennedy &
Co. in October 1859. From 1860 she was registered at Dumfries, owned
by William Turner, of that port, and others. She was owned in Spain for a brief period in the 1870's, renamed Elena. By 1875 she was registered
at London, owned by A.W.Bathe, and had regained her original name.
The Times newspaper reported in 1877 that "the ship Phaeton,
of London, with a cargo of rice, has been lost on the Madras coast."
