Phaeton

The Phaeton was a barque, launched from the Whitehaven shipyard of Lumley Kennedy & Co. in October 1859. From 1860 she was registered at Dumfries, owned by William Turner, of that port, and others. From 1876 she was registered at London, owned by A.W.Bathe. Her final entry in the registers in 1879 states that she was ashore in 1877.

The Times newspaper reported in 1877 that "the ship Phaeton, of London, with a cargo of rice, has been lost on the Madras coast."
