Ringdove

Official Number
none

The Ringdove was a brig built by Lumley Kennedy & Co. at Whitehaven, launched 13th May 1839. She was owned by John Walker & Co., was registered at Whitehaven, and was involved in the trade to the Caribbean and South America.

In May 1846 the Ringdove, Capt.Walker, was seized and taken into the River Salado by a French brig-of-war, for contravening the Anglo-French blockade of Buenos Ayres. She may have been detained for some time, accounting for the lack of detail in Lloyd's Register during this period.

The Ringdove, Capt.Garry, a day out of Savanilla, bound for London, sprung a leak on the 21st March 1851. She foundered almost immediately, but the crew were saved and landed at Carthagena.
