Tarragona

Official Number
44230

The Tarragona was a brig built by Lumley Kennedy & Co. at Whitehaven, launched on the 12th August 1862.

On Weds. 24th January 1866 the Tarragona, Capt.Russell, arrived at Liverpool from Pomaron, having had "a fearful passage, and during one gale she shifted cargo and spent 24 hours on her beam ends. Some of her bulwarks were knocked away, and her crew had given up all hope of ever reaching port."

The Tarragona was bought by the Tyrrell family of Arklow, Ireland in 1926. The vessel was given a motor and converted to a three-masted schooner rig. She traded between Ireland and Britain, and was registered at Dublin. After being laid up at Arklow for some time the Tarragona was  broken-up in 1934.
