The William was a brig built in 1797. She was owned by Capt.J.Boadle in 1811 and at the time of her loss in 1821.

Lloyd's List, Friday, 7th December 1821, page 2;

"Whitehaven, 3rd Dec. .... the William, Boadle, from Waterford, bound here, was totally wrecked on Duddon Sands on Saturday. Crew saved."

  4. Loss also reported in the Times, Thursday, 6th December 1821, page 3 - "WHITEHAVEN, Dec.2.- The New Triton is stranded near Ravenglass: crew and passengers saved. The brig William, of this port, from Waterford, is gone to pieces to the southward; crew saved."
