The Wilson was a brig launched at Whitehaven on the 1st April 1840. She was registered at Whitehaven for all her life, and in 1900 was owned by Thomas Troy, of Arklow.

The Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 7th April 1840, page 3;

" A very handsome new brig, burthen 173 tons old measurement, was on Wednesday last launched from the building-yard of Messrs.Lumley Kennedy & Co., at this port, called the Wilson, and intended for the coal and foreign trade. She was built for Capt.John Stoup, late of the Watson."
