The Grasmere was an iron full-rigged ship built by the Whitehaven
Shipbuilding Company at Whitehaven in December 1875. Originally owned
by Fisher & Sprott of Liverpool, she was sold to W.S.Kennaugh and then
to Norwegian owners in 1905. By this time she was a barque. Source 1 states
that the Grasmere was hulked in Germany during the First World War.
