From The Times, Monday, 3rd January, 1887, page. 6 :

"DISASTERS AT SEA : ........ The Tasmania also brought home Captain Jenkin, of the barquentine Eos, 160 tons register, of Aberystwith, owned by Mr.J.Enos, of Porth, Cardiganshire; Captain Evans, of the barquentine Arabella, of Carnarvon, 135 tons register, owned by Mr.Owen Lloyd, of Portmadoc; Captain Davis, of the schooner Polly Mitchell, of Swansea, 99 tons register, owned by Mr. Richard Mitchell, of Britonferry; William Owens, mate of the schooner Excelsior, of Aberystwith, 99 tons register, owned by Mr.Morgan Owens, of Aberystwith; and Captain Thomas, of the barquentine Jasper, of Whitehaven, 188 tons register, owned by Mr.George Nelson, of Whitehaven, whose vessels were wrecked in Sarli Bay, Morocco. All the vessels were lying at anchor in ballast or were loading beans or maize at the time. On Saturday, December 18, a heavy south-south-west gale sprang up, and, increasing in force, raged with great violence throughout the following day. The vessels either broke away from their moorings or parted their cables, and were driven ashore, as also were two German vessels, the schooner Johannah and the dandy Helena. All the ships may be termed total wrecks, as they lie embedded to a depth of about ten feet in sand, and most of them are seriously damaged through driving against each other before striking. All the crews were saved by ropes from the shore."
