The Cingula was a full-rigged built by Charles Lamport at Workington, and launched on the 2nd January 1865.

Launch report from the Cumberland Pacquet newspaper, Tuesday, 10th January 1865, page 8:

" On Monday se'nnight there was launched from the building yard of Mr.C.Lamport, an excellent ship for Mr.Nichol, of Liverpool. She was named the Cingula. Her length is 180 feet; breadth, 32 feet 3 inches; depth, 20 feet 9 inches; register 799 tons; builders' measurement, 816 tons. She is classed A1 at Lloyd's for 14 years, and is intended for the China trade."
