The Cumberland Pacquet and Ware’s Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 1st May 1849, page 3;

“ A new and splendidly rigged vessel, christened the Electric, was launched on Wednesday last from the ship-building yard of Messrs.Peile, Scott, and Co., of Workington. Her register is 491 tons, she is ship-rigged, coppered and copper-fastened to the bends, and has been built for Captain Douglas, of Harrington, who intends to employ her in the eastern trade………Her draughtsman was Mr.Jonathan Fell, manager of the building yard, whose admirable designs have procured him a considerable share of celebrity. “
