Liddell

The Liddell was a brig built by William Wallace at Workington in 1818. She was registered at Carlisle and was lost in January 1826 on a voyage from Odessa.

The Liverpool Mercury, Friday 3rd March 1826;

" NAVAL INTELLIGENCE, Constantinople, Jan.26 - The Hope, Lovell, and the Liddell, Liddell, from Odessa to England, are lost, with their crews, the former about 10 miles from the entrance to the Bosphorus, and the latter 15 miles further on the European coast."

The Cumberland Pacquet, Tuesday, 7th March 1826, page 3;

" We are sorry to announce the loss of the Liddle, Liddle, of Carlisle, with all her crew, together with the Captain's wife, on or about the 21st January last, in a snow storm, bound from Odessa to England, about 25 miles from the entrance to the Bosphorus, on the European coast."
