The Planter was a brig built at Harrington by Key, Carr & Co. in 1820.

The Cumberland Pacquet and Ware’s Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 21st February 1860, page ;

“ The brig Planter, Borrowdale, of Whitehaven, from Cardiff (coals) came on shore at Llansantffraid at three o’clock this afternoon; the crew landed through a heavy sea in the vessel’s boat; the master was much exhausted, having been overboard. The Planter, it is feared, will become a total wreck; the cargo may be saved.”
