Tiara

The Tiara was a wooden brigantine built by R.Williamson & Son at Harrington in January 1864. She was owned by the Hodgdon family of Whitehaven for her whole career.

The Tiara was supposed lost whilst on a voyage from Santander to Newport with an ore cargo, having left the Spanish port on the 7th December 1874, under the command of Capt.John Nelson and with six other crew. A boat marked with her name was picked up on the 4th Jan. 1875 at lat. 44 N, long. 45 W.
