The Boadicea was a steel ship built by R.Williamson & Son at Workington, launched October 1887. She was initially owned by Brown, Jenkinson & Co. and was registered in London, but by 1902 had been sold to William Thomas and Co., of Liverpool. The Boadicea was sold to Norwegian owners in 1915, and was re-named Siraa. Together with the steamer Benguela, the Siraa was stopped by a German submarine (U155) and sunk on the 29th June 1917. The Siraa was on passage from Buenos Aires to Le Havre with a cargo of quebracho, and was lost at 40.22 N, 26.51 W (100 nm NNE of Graciosa, Azores). The crew was rescued from their boats by a Spanish vessel the following day.
