Undine
Official Number
?????

The Undine was a schooner built by Richard Williamson at Harrington, launched on the 24th May 1849.

From Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser and Cumberland Pacquet newspaper, Tuesday, 29th May, 1849, page 3;

"On Thursday morning last, a beautiful new schooner was launched from the yard of Messrs.Richard Williamson and Co., at Harrington, and named the Undine, 95 tons new, and 96 tons old measurement, and expected to class A1 at Lloyd's for ten years. About half-past eleven the daggers were dropped, and the vessel glided steadily into her destined element, amidst the cheers of the assembled spectators. The Undine had her sails bent, and being ballasted, she stood across to the Scotch shore, under the command of Capt.John Ditchburn, and entered the harbour on the next tack. - We may remark that, on the day of the launch, the keel of a new vessel, of about 200 tons register, was laid down in the yard in which the Undine was built. "
The Undine was the tenth vessel built by the Williamson shipyard at Harrington. The vessel mentioned in the latter part of the launch report was probably the Benhall, the next vessel launched, in December 1850.
