The Pool Fisher was one of twelve three-masted schooners built by Paul Rodgers at Carrickfergus for Barrow shipowners James Fisher & Son. She was built of steel and launched in 1892.

From the Times newspaper, Tuesday, 11th February, 1908, page 11;

" THE LOSS OF THE POOL FISHER - With reference to the loss of the British schooner Pool Fisher, reported briefly in the Times of yesterday, a Lloyd's message states that the Dutch steamer Vondel, from Amsterdam, arrived at Southampton on Sunday afternoon, and reported having been in collision with and sunk the Pool Fisher, of Barrow, off Dungeness, at 4.30 a.m. on Sunday. The Vondel stood by for two hours, but did not pick up any crew, and it is feared that all were lost. "
Source 2 adds that the Pool Fisher was on passage from Teignmouth to London with a cargo of clay, and was between the Royal Sovereign lightship and Dungeness, heading east at the time of the collision. The Vondel struck her with her bow, and the schooner foundered immediately, with the loss of all five crew. The Vondel was a 5,800 ton steamer with 115 hands aboard, bound from Amsterdam to the Far East via Southampton, with general cargo and passengers.

Two days after the loss of the Pool Fisher, the Ford Fisher was in collision with a different steamer at the same location.
