Launch report from the Belfast News-Letter, Monday, 15th September, 1890;

" LAUNCH - A new three-masted steel schooner was launched yesterday from the Carrickfergus Shipyard in the presence of a large number of spectators. This is the second vessel of this class built for the firm of Messrs.James Fisher & Sons, of Barrow-in-Furness, by Messrs.Rodgers & Bell during the past year. The launch was most successful, and the vessel was named Shoal Fisher by Miss Iddon, of Belfast. The schooner's dimensions are - Length, 105 feet; breadth 22 ½ feet; depth, 8 ¾ feet; to carry about 210 tons. She has been built under special survey, and classed A1 at Lloyd's. She is commanded by Capt.Major, twenty-seven years under the same owners, and ten years ago was appointed master of the Fanny Crossfield, of similar dimensions, and first of ten vessels built at Carrickfergus for the same firm."

Barrow shipowners James Fisher & Son bought twelve three-masted schooners from the Carrickfergus shipyard of Paul Rodgers. The Shoal Fisher was one of the six steel schooners built by Rodgers for Fishers, and was succeeded by the Pool Fisher and Ford Fisher, both built in 1892.

The  Shoal Fisher was sold by Fishers in 1920 to Grounds of Runcorn. In August 1932 she was sunk by collision with the tanker Telena at 48N 7.50W on passage from Lisbon to Megavissey with salt.
