Shepherd & Leech Shipyard,
Whitehaven

The Whitehaven shipyard of Lumley Kennedy &
Co. was closed down in 1864, and was then taken over by Joseph Shepherd,
a former foreman at the Kennedy yard. The yard was operated under the name
of Shepherd & Leech, and 17 vessels were built there between 1865 and
1879.
